Police release dash cam video of Camaro chase, ID woman killed in crash

A 48-year-old woman was killed when she was truck by a 35-year-old woman driving the white Camaro. The Camaro driver had been in a short police chase before the crash.

Police have identified the woman killed in Wednesday's crash as 48-year-old Kristine Donahue of Chesterfield Township.

Donahue was killed in the crash while crossing the intersection of 24th and Dove streets shortly after 8 a.m.

Police said she was struck by a 35-year-old woman driving a white Camaro. The woman had been in a short police chase before the crash.

The officer saw the woman traveling at a high rate of speed on Bancroft Street at 22nd Street and activated his overhead lights and siren. In a dash cam video released by the police department, the woman reaches speeds in excess of 100 mph before first hitting a pickup making a northbound turn onto 24th Street, before continuing into the Dove street intersection and hitting Donahue's car.

The Camaro also hit a second car in the intersection.

The woman driving the Camaro and her three passengers were seriously injured in the crash.

Police said Thursday the Port Huron woman remains in critical but stable condition at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Investigators also determined the woman was operating her vehicle with an expired license.

A 21-year-old Port Huron man who was in her vehicle is in "very critical condition" at Henry Ford Hospital, according to police. He has a misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear on a charge of malicious destruction of property out of the Sanilac County Sheriff Department, according to police.

A 33-year-old man who was also in the vehicle remains in critical condition at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Police said there is a bench warrant out for his arrest for failure to appear while driving on a suspended license, second offense, out of the Port Huron Police Department.

The third passenger, a 31-year-old Port Huron man, is also in critical condition at McLaren Macomb. Investigation showed he has a parole violation warrant for parole absconder for his arrest through the Lansing Tether Unit.

Police also found a loaded handgun in the Camaro. The gun had been reported stolen from a Port Huron home in March.

The roadway was closed for several hours following the crash.

The case is being handled by Port Huron Police accident and criminal investigators and the St. Clair County Sheriff Departments. Their findings will be forwarded to the St. Clair County Prosecutor's Office to determine charges.

Donahue is survived by her husband, Michael, and three daughters, Chelsea, Shannon and Abigail, according to her obituary.

Visitation is set for 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at Wasik Funeral Home, 49150 Schoenherr Road, Shelby Township. Interment will be at Glen Eden Cemetery East.
