BELDING, Michigan — You may love ranch, but do you love 24 ounces of it all at once? This West Michigan restaurant wants to find out.
The Harmful Roester in Belding, located at 135 N Bridge Street, is known for their delicious homemade ranch. So, naturally, they had an idea.
Owner Randy Roest said he came up with the "hare-brained" idea almost jokingly, but after talking to a few others, he said people were really buying into it.
"How much more Midwest can you get," Roest asked. "We wanted to do something that was unique and different, and kind of feature something that we do fresh here with our homemade ranch."
Restaurant staff are putting on a ranch chugging competition on Sunday, Sept. 1, to see who can be the fastest to slurp down 24 ounces of ranch.
"So it's a 24 ounce beer mug. The fastest to complete or to finish their mug of ranch is the winner. If nobody can finish, it's whoever drinks the most will be the winner," Roest said.
The winner gets one free order of wings every "Wing Wednesday" until Spring 2025. The competition kicks off at 3 p.m.
The entry fee is only $5 and registration is due no later than Friday, Aug. 30. You can sign up at the Harmful Roester.
Anyone under 18 will need a signature from a guardian.
Happy guzzling, ranch lovers!
