Body found on Lake Michigan shoreline in Fennville; Sheriff considers death 'suspicious'

While there are no initial signs of foul play, Allegan County authorities are working to identify the man and consider his death as suspicious.

FENNVILLE, Mich. — West Michigan authorities are investigating after the remains of a man washed ashore from Lake Michigan Wednesday.

The Allegan County Sheriff's Office told 13 ON YOUR SIDE some homeowners in Fennville called law enforcement after they saw what appeared to be a body on the shore.

Investigators rushed to the 2200 block of Lakeshore Drive and found the body of a man washed ashore.

Law enforcement said the man appeared to be under the age of 40, and he wasn't wearing any clothes besides size 12 brown leather Converse All Star shoes/boots.

Investigators also said the man had been in the water for some time and eventually washed to shore. That's one of the reasons why they haven't been able to identify him.

While there are no initial signs of foul play, Allegan County authorities consider his death suspicious.

Authorities said they don't have any missing persons reports in the area, so they are hoping someone may know something.

Sheriff's Detectives are awaiting results from the Medical Examiner's office for the cause of death and identification.

If you have information that would be helpful in identifying the person, you can contact Lieutenant Mike Brown at 269-673-0442.
