KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. — Three Comstock fire trucks and a Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) cruiser were hit while working at the scene of a crash Thursday morning.
KCSO said around 8:30 a.m. deputies and fire crews were on the scene of a rollover crash on eastbound I-94 near the 80.5 mile marker, just east of Sprinkle Road.
While crews were working on this crash, a 24-foot box truck lost control and crashed into three Comstock fire vehicles and a KCSO cruiser before rolling over and coming to a stop.

Deputies said no first responders were injured in the crash, but the box truck driver had minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
KCSO said there were no injuries reported in the original rollover crash.
Eastbound I-94 at Sprinkle Road was closed for several hours while crews worked to clear the highway. It has since reopened.
Deputies said the crashes are important reminders to slow down during winter weather and move over for emergency vehicles.
"We urge everyone to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary during severe winter weather. If you must be on the road, please use extreme caution, reduce your speed, and allow extra time to reach your destination. Your safety—and the safety of first responders—depends on it," said Sheriff Rick Fuller in a Facebook post.
