FERRYSBURG, Mich. — The U.S. Coast Guard from Grand Haven has been called in to help search the waters around Ferrysburg after a suspect in a police chase may have jumped into the bayou connected to the Grand River, according to Ottawa County dispatch.

The incident began around 4 a.m. on Sunday in Holland, when Holland Police noticed a stolen vehicle, dispatch said.

Dispatch said police tried stopping the vehicle, but it drove away. The driver of the vehicle led police on a chase around Ottawa County for nearly an hour.

Near Ferrysburg, police believe four suspects got out of the car, some of them running toward the waterway east of town.

Police were able to track down three of the suspects and place them in custody.

Dispatch said police believe a fourth suspect may have entered the water in an attempt to get away and began an initial search of the area around the waterway.
