Broad Leaf Brewery launches 'Shake Party' after reopening

After taking a five-month hiatus, Broad Leaf has reopened its doors with a new look.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Broad Leaf Brewery and Spirits is reintroducing themselves to downtown Grand Rapids with a new look.

After the westside location temporarily closed after not meeting sales expectations, the brewery is now taking another shot at bringing a new, unique space to Grand Rapids.

In addition to serving signature cocktails and beer, the location is now introducing a new concept: Shake Party.

“So we have Shake Party, which is a new business we just started,” said owner Jason Spaulding. “It's kind of indulgent, kind of over the top, outrageous milkshakes. So people may have seen like, Bloody Marys that come with, like, a whole chicken on top, and burgers. It's kind of like that but in the world of milkshakes.”

Spaulding strives to make his space family-friendly. Shake Party would allow families to enjoy milkshakes and for the 21+ plus crowd—enjoy a boozy milkshake or cocktail.

"People can bring their family to get a milkshake," he said. "Dad can get a beer, mom can get a boozy milkshake, kids can get something and then even something for the dog if they want a little pup cup."

The space also has a room dedicated to arcade games and food vendors that rent out Broad Leaf's kitchen each week.

The spot is open four days out of the week—4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursdays; 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays; noon to 11 p.m. on Saturdays; and noon to 9 p.m. on Sundays. Find out more about Broad Leaf Brewery here.
