CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. — Monday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. deputies with the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office responded to the 300 block of Avenue C in the City of Springfield on a report of an attempted child abduction.

The child, a 10-year-old girl, told deputies that a man she did not know approached her and attempted to lure her into his pickup truck.

She described the man as a middle-aged white man with a black beard, tattoos on his arms and legs, and piercings on his eyebrows, nose and lips.

His pickup truck was described as a white Ford with a black cap over the bed and black rims. He was last seen driving the truck eastbound on Avenue C away from the scene.

Law enforcement said they couldn't get a plate or registration from that description.

Deputies with the Sheriff's Office canvassed the immediate area searching for the man but could not find him. Deputies checked with residents in the area to get more information or video surveillance.

The Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau is assisting with the investigation along with the Traffic Safety Unit and additional deputies who are working as extra patrols in the area and surrounding areas of the City of Springfield.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lieutenant Curtis Smith of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office at 269-781-0880 or Silent Observer at 269-964-3888.
