MUSKEGON, Mich. — A Muskegon car club is using their love of cars to raise money for cancer research.
The parking lot of the Lakes Mall in Muskegon saw cars of all kinds on Monday, all of them gathered there for a good cause.
The Cars for Cancer show has been going on for 20 years. In that time, organizers say they have raised over $400,000 for the Johnson Cancer Center.
And for the event coordinator, this event means so much more.
"I lost my mother to cancer in 2005 so that was special to me," said Bill Hill. "But every year, we hear a lot of stories of people that are affected by cancer, whether they lost a loved one or, you know, they're fighting cancer themselves. You know you don't have to go very far in your group of friends and family to find cancer unfortunately."
Organizers told 13 ON YOUR SIDE that Monday's event raised around $50,000. All of the proceeds will go to cancer research.
