CEDAR SPRINGS, Mich (WZZM) -- Meet Dragon.
He lives at Deer Tracks Junctions near Cedar Springs.
He's a young, curious, and very unusual fawn.
He's a piebald.
Less than one percent of whitetails in the wild are born piebald and even less survive to adulthood.
"It's beautiful, but it's a sign of other problems it might have," said Deer Tracks Junction owner Kelly Powell. "A piebald deer is the same as any other whitetail deer; it's just lacking pigment and pigment doesn't just affect your skin color, it effects your eyesight, hearing, kidney functions."
When you take away a deer's camouflage and its ability to hear and see predators, it has no chance to survive.
Dragon's mother rejected him on first sight.
"She had twins; one was born with full pigment and she accepted that one, and Dragon, being piebald, was rejected -- so we're trying to nurse him back to health and introduce him back to the herd," said Powell.
Even though she is a piebald herself, Dragon's mother actually tried to kill him.
Dragon's shunned right now because he looks different, but at some point he will grow up and assimilate.
But for the reasons he's an outcast to his own kind, he's loved by people and will likely be the most popular deer in Deer Tracks Junction for the rest of his days.
