GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- A former Major League Baseball player says he's too broke to afford a lawyer.
Chad Curtis is defending himself in a civil lawsuit against young women who accuse him of sexual misconduct at Lakewood High School.
He's currently in prison for criminal sexual conduct.
Curtis apologized Monday for a filing that identified the women by name.
When a judge urged him to get a lawyer, Curtis said he's down to $39 dollars and "nine noodles in my cell."
The women want to move the case directly to financial damages, pointing out Curtis already has been convicted.
That conviction is being appealed.
