GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Many restaurants and fast-food establishments close their doors on Christmas Day.
But some, like First Wok on Alpine in Walker, have an annual tradition of staying open during the holidays.
And it's typically one of their busiest days of the year, "visiting manager" Norman Yu said.
"It's a family affair for us. We have our whole family working. I live outside of Michigan, so I came back and my parents put me to work," Yu said.
"Having a place where the community can go to on Christmas day with their family and friends is one that we enjoy participating in."
Chinese restaurants are some of the only ones that stay open on Christmas and Christmas Eve. And many see huge upticks in business.
"For us, it's one of our busiest days of the year. So we're taking orders over the phone or dine in, and it's full steam ahead," Yu said.
If you're looking for something other than a fast-food burger or a gas station hotdog, there are a few places you can go.
It's always a good idea to call ahead to double-check if places are open before you make the trip.
