City of Allegan hosting 'Walkabout' to help community become familiar with new roundabout

There will be no vehicular traffic allowed in the roundabout at the event. Instead, bicycles will be allowed, and are encouraged.

ALLEGAN, Mich. — The City of Allegan is hosting a public open house for a new roundabout at a large intersection to help the community familiarize themselves with it before it's open to traffic. 

The "Walkabout" will be held on Thursday, Aug. 22 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Cedar/Ely/Hubbard/Marshall/Jenner Street intersection.

The city manager will give a welcome speech at 5:30 p.m. and the open house will begin after that. 

There will be no vehicular traffic allowed in the roundabout at this time. Instead, bicycles will be allowed, and are encouraged. 

Parking will be available at the Allegan County Courthouse parking lot at 113 Chestnut Street.
