Community cocktails campaign to benefit Holland charities

There’s still time to support West Michigan charities and try some unique and tasty cocktails at the same time.

HOLLAND, Mich. — There’s still time to support West Michigan charities and try some unique and tasty cocktails at the same time. There’s just about one week left to take part in the all-new community cocktails campaign in Holland.

Jessica Daly with Tulyp Hotel told 13 ON YOUR SIDE, “Any big city you go to, there’s going to be a Courtyard by Marriott. This is the only Tulyp Hotel.”

If you haven’t been, maybe now’s the time to go. If you have, why not head back?

“People are going to have their cocktails,” said Daly. So, the Tulyp Hotel decided to combine cocktails and community.

Daly explained, “We chose five local leaders in the community and partnered with them to create a signature drink.”

Each leader also chose a nonprofit, and anytime someone buys their cocktail, $1 will go to their charity of choice.

“Whichever cocktails has the most sales in the month of September is going to stay on our menu for a full year. So, they are going to get that support all year round,” said Daly.

Some of the community leaders include Holland Mayor Nathan Bocks, who helped to create Bocks on the Rocks. Also, West Coast Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Jodi Owczarski, who helped to create “a fabulous berry spritz. Come on down and give it a try,” Owczarski told our crew with a smile.

Proceeds from her berry spritz will benefit the West Coast Chamber.

“We’re a nonprofit organization that works to serve all of the businesses here in our community, as well as supporting the community as a whole,” said Owczarski.

She also says no matter which cocktail you choose, “Campaigns like this are a win-win.”

Mayor Bocks is supporting the nonprofit Latin Americans United For Progress (LAUP).

The community cocktails campaign runs through the end of September.
