Crash in Muskegon County leaves one dead

Deputies believe speed was a factor in the crash.

MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. — Muskegon County Sheriff's deputies responded to a fatal crash in Holton Township on Thursday evening. 

According to deputies, around 8:30 p.m. they were dispatched to an area near 6020 E Holton Whitehall Road for a single-vehicle crash.

A red Chevrolet Monte Carlo had been heading west on East Holton Whitehall Road when the car left the road and hit several trees, police said.

The driver, Shane Andrew Kalasz from Holton, was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said. 

Deputies believe speed was a factor in the crash.
