ALLENDALE, Mich. — A crash claimed one life and closed two Allendale Charter Township roads Tuesday, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says.
Police were called to the intersection of Lake Michigan Drive and 84th Avenue around 12:57 p.m. The area was closed for hours while crews cleaned up and investigated, but has since reopened.
A 20-year-old man from Allendale was driving a Ford sedan eastbound on Lake Michigan Drive, investigators say. He hit the rear end of a Pontiac, pushing it into oncoming westbound traffic.
A semi truck hit the Pontiac on the passenger side. The driver of the Pontiac, a 70-year-old woman from Allendale was killed.
Her name is being withheld pending family notification.
The investigation is still underway.
