IONIA COUNTY, Mich. — Shortly after 2 p.m. on Friday Deputies from the Ionia County Sheriff's Office responded to a crash in the 10,000 block of Sayles Road in Keene Twp.
Only one car was involved in the crash. Authorities said a 16-year-old girl from Saranac was driving eastbound on Sayles when her car went off the roadway, hitting a tree.
Also in the car were two other young girls, a 15-year-old from Saranac and a 17-year-old.
The 15-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, the 17-year-old was transported to a Grand Rapids hospital with critical injuries. Officials did not share the driver's condition.
The Ionia County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.
