Over 2,000 people lose power after crash involving power line in Kentwood

KENTWOOD, Mich. — Over 2,000 people are without power near the intersection of 44th St. and Shaffer Ave. after a crash damaged a power line.

The Kentwood Police Department has closed eastbound 44th St. between Shaffer Ave. to Lantana Dr. because of the crash. Police are asking drivers to avoid the area.

There are no major injuries in the crash, the Kentwood Police Department says.

Consumers Energy estimates over 2,100 customers are affected by the outage with an estimated restoration time of 7:30 p.m. tonight.

If you see a downed wire, you are asked to stay at least 25 feet away and report the wire by calling Consumers Energy at 1-800-477-5050.
