Fiery crash leaves 1 dead, 1 injured in Thornapple Twp.

A truck was turning onto Cherry Valley Road when the driver failed to yield to an oncoming sedan, according to investigators. The cars collided and both caught fire.

BARRY COUNTY, Mich. — One person was killed and another was injured in a crash in Thornapple Township on Sunday.

Deputies say the crash happened just before 3 p.m. at the intersection of Cherry Valley Road and Gackler Road. A truck was turning onto Cherry Valley Road when the driver failed to yield to an oncoming sedan, according to investigators. The cars collided and both caught fire. 

The driver of the truck, a 58-year-old Middleville man, was airlifted to a hospital. He later died from his injuries.

The driver of the sedan was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

This crash remains under investigation.
