SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. — One person is dead after a two-car crash near South Haven Monday morning on M-43 near 65th Street in Geneva Twp.
South Haven Area Emergency Services said they responded to the crash at 5:15 a.m.
Their investigation leads them to believe that one car struck a deer, crossed over the center line and hit another vehicle that was coming from the other direction head-on.
One of the two drivers died at the scene. Authorities did not share which driver that was.
The other driver was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance.
Michigan State Police and the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office are investigating the accident.
M-34 was closed in that area for about three hours.
