Police: It was dad with girl screaming 'stranger danger' in Southfield

Police were previously seeking the public's help in finding the man, who was seen dragging the young girl out of store.
Police are trying to find this man and the girl after he allegedly pulled her out of a Burlington Coat Factory store in Southfield on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017.

The man who was seen dragging a girl out of a Southfield store Tuesday morning as the child screamed "stranger danger" was actually her father, police reported late in the day.

"The young girl was found safe at home with her mother and father," Southfield Deputy Chief Nick Loussia said in an e-mail at about 8:45 p.m.

A few hours earlier, police announced they were seeking the public's help in identifying a man and young girl after the man was seen dragging the child out of the Burlington Coat Factory at 29720 Southfield Road. Witnesses reported that the child struggled with the man and hit him as he was dragging her away.
