GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Something pter-ific is coming to John Ball Zoo soon.
Starting July 15, staff say you may hear a roar come from the zoo — and not just from a tiger or a lion. It's part of their newest exhibit, "Dino Adventures."
From the entryway of the zoo grounds to the Forest Realm sections, you'll spot interactive exhibits about the traits of prehistoric dinosaurs and how they've influenced animals today.
Visitors can try to spot more than 20 life-sized robotic dinosaurs that display real behaviors, like mothering, feeding, preying and more until the exhibit wraps up on November 15.
Kids can even help uncover fossils in a dig pit and take a picture with a t-rex.
“John Ball Zoo is so excited to welcome our community to our newest exhibit ‘Dino Adventures,’” said Darci Mitchell, promotions & events manager at John Ball Zoo. “This experience aims to foster a deeper appreciation for the natural world, its history and the urgent need for conservation efforts to protect both living species and those yet to come.”
The founder of Dino Adventures, "Dino Don," will do a series of chats on the Forest Realm Stage on July 28. He's the author of 40 books on natural history and was an adviser on Stephen Spielberg's "Jurassic Park."
All of the activities are included in the cost of a Zoo ticket, which you can purchase here.
