KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. — Michigan State Police said a trooper standing outside of his patrol SUV avoided injury when a distracted driver slammed into the back of it Monday morning.
MSP from Southwest Michigan said around 10 a.m., a trooper was helping out a stopped driver on southbound US 131 near I-94 in Kalamazoo County.
Law enforcement said the trooper was standing outside near the passenger's side door of the disabled vehicle when a distracted driver struck the back of the patrol vehicle.
MSP said no one was seriously hurt.
"This is a great reminder that distracted & careless driving remains against the law for the safety of all. Those who violate will be held accountable, just like the driver of the pictured vehicle," Michigan State Police said.
