MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. — A bobcat is dead after being hit by a car in the Muskegon County area, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
The DNR said the collision happened around 9:15 a.m.
The DNR said the bobcat was not fully grown: it was only a kitten.
A DNR officer did respond to the crash in hopes of being able to help but said the bobcat was in "extremely rough condition" and died from its injuries.
Two women in the car saw another bobcat kitten that ran away after the crash, the DNR said.
It's not common for a bobcat to be hit by a car but it does happen, the DNR said.
According to the DNR, bobcats are elusive and usually don't want anything to do with humans and cars.
