Owners rescue dog before car sinks 10 feet deep in Monterey Lake

​According to deputies, the vehicle had gone approximately 30-40 yards into the lake and sank about 10 feet deep.

ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — A dog was rescued from a sinking car in Monterey Lake on Saturday afternoon, according to the Allegan County Sheriff's Office. 

ACSO said around 3:50 p.m. dispatch received a call about a car that had gone into the water at Monterey Lake. 

Deputies said the vehicle had a dog inside, but the owner was able to rescue it before the car sank. 

According to deputies, the vehicle had gone approximately 30-40 yards into the lake and sank about 10 feet deep. 

Allegan County Marine Patrol was at the scene and used sonar equipment to find the vehicle, as it wasn't visible from above the water. 

The Allegan County Dive Rescue Team got the vehicle out of the water. 

There were no injuries in the incident and alcohol was not a factor, ACSO said.
