'I don't think she even understood what she was doing' | Business captures on video stolen Amazon van crashing onto their property

Arbor Gage and Tooling in Grand Rapids security footage shows stolen Amazon van crashing onto their property as the driver is flung from the vehicle.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — New video provided by Arbor Gage and Tooling shows Elizabeth Frasier, a 24-year-old Grand Rapids woman crashing a stolen Amazon van into a transformer box on their property at Calvin Avenue and Hazen Street, knocking out power to the area in Southeast Grand Rapids for several hours on Saturday.

Police said Frasier is now facing criminal charges.

Video from the stolen van shows Elizabeth Frasier jumping into the vehicle and taking it for a joy ride, which quickly turned reckless. She is seen steering violently and then falling out of the vehicle before it crashed into the transformer box at Arbor Gage and Tooling, knocking out power for the business and the area.

"I ended up leaving the building about 10 minutes after the power went out, and I came out and saw that Amazon truck had run into the transformer," said Joanna Heerema, who was working the day of the incident. She said she saw the van smoking and called 911.

The footage from Arbor Gage and Tooling shows Frasier then getting up off the ground, seemingly unfazed, after falling out of the van.

"[she] did not check herself to see if she was hurt, just kept walking. She checked the door on my jeep outside to see if that was unlocked. It was locked, so she kept moving, and even in the video that the driver took personally, she doesn't look remorseful or I don't think she's she even understood what she was doing," said Heerema.

Heerema also said she met the Amazon delivery driver who followed Frasier on foot, and said he was apologizing to her for the damage caused by Frasier.

"He was a very nice person. I was very sorry that it happened to him, and he kept apologizing to me, and I was trying to apologize to him, and he seemed like he was taking that all upon himself. Like it was his fault, and but I don't think it was at all," said Heerema.

The charges against Frasier for unlawfully driving away an automobile could result in a maximum of 5 years in prison.

"I hope she can find the help she needs. Clearly she wasn't in her right mind when she was doing all those things," Heerema added.
