MONTCALM COUNTY, Mich. — A West Michigan man who authorities say crossed the center line and slammed head-on into a car carrying a mother and daughter entered a no-contest plea for his role in the fiery wreck.
Rex Redman, 37, was charged with a moving violation causing death and a moving violation causing serious impairment for the crash that happened on May 22.
A good samaritan at the time came upon the burning vehicle and pulled out the 6-year-old child and her mother.
First responders rushed both to the hospital with critical injuries but the child died from her injuries.
Redman was also injured in the crash.
In October, Redman pleaded no-contest to both charges. He's expected to be sentenced in January 2024.
The crash happened on Sidney Road near Stevenson in Montcalm County around 6:30 a.m. on May 25.
