EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A 67-year-old man passed away from his injuries following a crash at the intersection of Breton and Berwyck roads in East Grand Rapids.
At 6 p.m. Tuesday, East Grand Rapids Public Safety responded to reports of the crash. The accident involved a vehicle and the 67-year-old man, who was riding a Onewheel. Officers on scene provided medical assistance to the man. However, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was identified Wednesday as Kenneth Paul Pesonen of Grand Rapids.
The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and officers said he cooperated with Public Safety.
“Our hearts go out to all parties involved, and we are committed to thoroughly investigating the events that led up to this incident,” East Grand Rapids Public Safety Director Ric Buikema said. “Since we have just begun the investigation, no additional details are available at this time.”
East Grand Rapids Public Safety wanted to share a message reminding community members to exercise increased caution while driving, especially in neighborhoods with high pedestrian traffic.
