DORR TOWNSHIP, Mich, (WZZM) -- The bitter cold made fighting a house fire in Dorr more challenging for crews Thursday morning.
It started around 4:45 a.m. Thursday on 142nd Avenue near 24th Street west of Dorr.
Fire personnel tell us the homeowner reported the second floor of the home was filling with smoke and the family was getting out of the house. Several crews from several surrounding townships assisted Dorr Township firefighters.
Allegan County deputies have closed off 142nd Avenue between 23rd and 24th streets to keep traffic away from the fire scene.
The chief tells us that working smoke alarms alerted the family to the danger.
