Fire crews extinguish fire at Greenville Steel recycling center

Multiple fire engines responded to a fire at a recycling center north of Greenville.

GREENVILLE, Michigan — Fire crews battled a fire at the Greenville Steel Sales recycling center just north of Greenville in Eureka Township on Thursday.

Cory Smith, a reporter for The Daily News, is reporting that there have been no injuries in the fire and the blaze appears to have started in a scrap pile on the property.

Smith says that the fire department's resources are spread thin, despite aid from other departments.

Five different fire departments responded to the fire and were seen using tanker trucks to supply water to firetrucks at the scene.

Smoke from the fire showed up on the 13 ON YOUR SIDE radar and are estimated to have risen about 5,000 feet into the air.

Crews are still on the scene, addressing hot spots still in the fire area.
