KENT COUNTY, Mich. — A fire broke out at the Kent County Recycling & Education Center Wednesday morning, staff said.

The center was redirecting trucks to the Waste to Energy Facility while they cleaned up, but it later reopened. No one was injured and no equipment was damaged.

Staff said the fire was likely caused by a lithium battery that was improperly recycled.
