GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Thousands of people filled Riverside Park in Grand Rapids Friday evening for the first Food Truck Fridays event of the season.
Pizza, brisket, crepes, slushies and artisan grilled cheese marked the start of the eighth season of the popular food truck event.
Organizers estimated more than 2,000 people came out for the first night, as the event brought back businesses and happy customers from years prior.
The event moved to the northside of the park this year and now features live music, too.
"It's cool, a bunch of people are out here and it's like, a bunch of dogs too, which I love dogs, and everyone seems to be loving it. I didn't know there was a band here, too. They got everything you want," said Brandon Wenger.
Edward Delacruz told 13 ON YOUR SIDE, "It's great to see the community come and support us and see all the families sharing different foods supporting every food truck."
Organizer and food truck owner Alan Tomlinson said that's been the goal since the start.
"We've estimated that we've been able to generate $2.5 million dollars in revenue for these local businesses," said Tomlinson.
Food Truck Fridays are every Friday at Riverside Park until the end of July this year. Admission is free.
