Former Wedgwood Christian Services employee sentenced for criminal sexual conduct with children met at work

Detectives described how Glenn Fisher, 44, helped two 13-year-old girls run away from the treatment center he worked at and had sex with one at his apartment.

KENTWOOD, Michigan — A man was sentenced for criminal sexual conduct involving children at a treatment center he used to work at in Kentwood.

Glenn Fisher, 44, was sentenced for a slew of criminal sexual conduct and accosting children for immoral purpose charges when he was an employee of Wedgwood Christian Services. He will spend 7 to 15 years behind bars and be registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Detectives studied one of the cases Fisher was accused of for 86 months, and spent 23 months on another. They say Fisher helped two 13-year-old girls run away from the center.

In court, detectives described how Fisher took the girls to his apartment in Gaines Township and had sex with one.

The girls were later picked up in Bay City, Michigan by authorities.

Multiple social media messages and letters between the girls and Fisher also show criminal activity and knowledge of the crimes.

Another underage girl alleged abuse from Fisher. Detectives say he also met her through Wedgwood.

The prosecutor said Fisher knew how to pick his victims, the extremely vulnerable children getting support at Wedgwood, and supplied them with the things they wanted in order to exploit them. The defense disagreed, saying Fisher is kind and smart. They say he looks forward to spending time with family after his incarceration, and they plan to appeal the case.

Wedgwood Christian Services released a statement after the sentencing:

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families of Glenn Fisher. Now that justice has been served, we hope the victims and their families can begin healing. The crimes involving the former employee, which occurred off-site and off-the-clock, were thoroughly investigated by police and Licensing and Child Protective Services in both Kent County and Bay City. The findings from these investigations showed that all state clearances and background checks were completed and received state approval for employment."
