GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Residents are wondering what's going on at the intersection of Walker Avenue and Richmond Street NW after two stop signs were removed. The city cleared it up with 13 ON YOUR SIDE.
Concerns were initially sent to the city about visibility, Ariana Jeske with Mobile GR said.
The detouring traffic from construction projects nearby meant more cars driving through the area, while trees and plants hindered sight distance for cars on Richmond.
The city then placed a temporary four-way stop while the vegetation was cleared. When the project was done, two of the stop signs were removed, Jeske says. Two remain on Richmond, as it was previously.
The city will be collecting traffic volume data in the fall as school begins again and construction projects are complete. This will determine if a traffic signal will be added.
