GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Hundreds will be "freezin for a reason" Saturday Feb. 10. That reason is to benefit the athletes of Special Olympics Michigan.
The Grand Rapids Polar Plunge is a major fundraiser for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
The event is a way they can find acceptance and inclusion through year-round sports, free of charge.
The event takes place at LMCU Ballpark, registration begins at noon and plungers start jumping in at 2 p.m.
Anyone coming to take the plunge is encouraged to show up dressed in their favorite costume, and also to wear shoes for the plunge as well as bring an extra pair to change into after.
Plungers will need to bring their own towel.
After jumping in there will be an "After Splash Bash" with lunch and drinks available for purchase, lunch will be free for plungers.
