FRUITPORT, Mich. — Following recent threats against Fruitport Community Schools, charges will be filed against an additional suspect in connection to threats against the district.
Fruitport Community Schools Superintendent Jason Kennedy announced the charges Wednesday. The Muskegon County Prosecutor's Office will file the charges.
"Nothing about threats such as those made against students, staff members, or schools are found to be funny, nor will they be tolerated," said Kennedy in the announcement.
This comes as the Muskegon County Law Enforcement Task Force continues to investigate threats across the county.
Kennedy urged parents to remind students about the seriousness of threats against schools. As law enforcement investigates these incidents, anyone found making threats will be held accountable, Kennedy says.
School districts across West Michigan have closed schools recently in order to fully investigate threats. This uptick in threats continues more than two weeks after the deadly Oxford High School shooting, which left four people dead and seven others wounded.
All threats should be reported to law enforcement to be investigated.
