VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — A Gobles area couple who run an in-home daycare have been arraigned, the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office says.
Jesse Stone, 46, was arraigned on multiple counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct and Child Abuse. His bond is set at $750,000.
Stephanie Stone, 38, was arraigned on multiple counts of Child Abuse. Her bond is set at $100,000.
The couple was arrested on Saturday around 5 p.m. in the 1000 block of the M-40 Highway.
It all started when the Sheriff's Office in LaGrange, Indiana told Van Buren deputies about a case of child sexual abuse and physical abuse happening in the area. They had detailed information related to the abuse.
The house on M-40, which operates as an in-home daycare, was searched with a warrant. Deputies were able to gather enough evidence to arrest Jesse and Stephanie with the help of Van Buren County Child Protective Services.
Police do not believe any of the children who attend the daycare portion of the home were being abused, but deputies are still investigating the case.
