GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — One person was arrested and multiple people were injured in an overnight car crash in Grand Haven.

The crash happened in the intersection of southbound US-31 and Hayes Street just after midnight Friday. Deputies say a Honda Odyssey had stopped for a blinking red light and attempted to cross the intersection when it was hit by a southbound Dodge Avenger.

The occupants of both vehicles were pinned in.

The driver of the Honda, an 18-year-old Grand Haven man, was uninjured. An 18-year-old Muskegon woman who was a passenger in the Honda sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Both the driver of the Dodge, a 26-year-old Twin Lake man, and the passenger, a 25-year-old Muskegon man, were injured.

After the crash, the Twin Lake man attempted to run from the scene, but deputies arrested him after a short chase.

Southbound US-31 was closed for about an hour after the crash.

The investigation is still ongoing.
