GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — There are some new additions to the beach at Grand Haven State Park this summer.
Electronic beach towers and four blue light towers are currently being installed to mirror the beach flag system. They are not yet in service.
Andrew LundBorg, the supervisor of Grand Haven State Park, said once the towers are completed, their web-enabled notification system will "enhance public safety and emergency response times."
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the towers will be held before the summer beach season.
LundBorg said all visitors must remember to keep safety as a top priority when swimming in Lake Michigan, as there are no lifeguards on duty.
