A 65-year-old Grand Haven woman was injured Friday morning when her pickup truck rear-ended a garbage truck that was stopped on the side of the road.
According to the Grand Haven Tribune, an ambulance transported Deborah Spicer to North Ottawa Community Hospital for evaluation following the crash. Officials said that her injuries were not life-threatening.
Emergency crews responded to the crash on Comstock Street west of 160th Avenue at about 7:50 a.m. Friday, April 7.
Ottawa County Sheriff's officials said Spicer was traveling east on Comstock, when the right front of her Chevrolet S10 struck the left rear of the Allied Waste garbage truck that was stopped on the side of the road.
Spicer told police that she was blinded by the sun and was attempting to pull down her visor when she hit the garbage truck.
The driver of the truck, Christopher OKelly, 29, of Muskegon, was not injured.
He had just finished a pick up and was starting to continue east at the time of the crash, said Ottawa County Sheriff Sgt. Christie Wendt.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
