Investigators say one man is hurt after a serious crash south of Grand Haven.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday near the corner of Lakeshore Drive and Lincoln Street.

Police say 26-year-old Michael McGuire's Infiniti hit a tree near a bike path south of Lincoln Street, next to a cemetery.

According to the Grand Haven Tribune, neighbors heard what sounded like a loud explosion. “It shook the windows,” one neighbor said.

McGuire was pinned inside his car for 30 minutes before investigators were able to use a hydraulic device to cut him out.

Sgt. J. Douglas of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department told the Tribune, based on the extent of damage on the vehicle, the car was traveling at a high rate of speed.

Aeromed landed one mile away at Grand Haven High School. An ambulance took the victim to the high school to be flown to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

He is listed in critical condition.
