'Save the Catwalk' initiative meets monetary goal

The 'Save the Catwalk' committee has been raising money to refurbish the structure and eventually place it back on the south pier.

Well, the Grand Haven catwalk will be saved!

The city and the 'Save the Catwalk' committee have reached their one-million dollar goal, as of Thursday, Dec. 14. The goal was met with help from a $50,000 grant from the Loutit Foundation.

“I’m relieved and happy,” said campaign chairwoman Erin Terrell. “This is a day of celebration.”

Terrell said more than six figures worth of donations have come through the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation.

The catwalk was removed last summer by the Army Corps of Engineers - in order to make significant improvements to the south pier.
