GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — West Michigan lost an arts, culture and fashion icon on Sunday.
60-year-old David Abbott has passed away following a long battle with cancer.
Abbott was the executive director of the Festival of the Arts and held leadership roles for ArtPrize and LaughFest.
He was public about his battle with cancer and had beaten it several times in his adult life.
Abbott was known for his fashion and trendy eyewear. According to his Facebook page, he was the former owner and manager of A.K. Rikk's men's clothing store.
He graduated from East Grand Rapids High School and Central Michigan University and was a lifelong Grand Rapids resident.
