Grand Rapids axe throwing venue creates monthly program to donate to local nonprofits

The program will feature a different nonprofit each month. Every Sunday, 25% of FlannelJax's axe throwing revenue will go directly to the nonprofit.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Last month FlannelJax's, a Grand Rapids axe throwing venue, created a program to uplift the community around them by supporting local nonprofits.

The FlannelJax's Gives Back program will feature a different nonprofit each month. On every Sunday during that month, 25% of their axe throwing revenue will go directly to the nonprofit.

The venue said the program not only provides financial support for the nonprofit, but it gives their customers "a chance to have fun while making a difference."

This November, FlannelJax's is partnering with the Hope Gain Center of West Michigan

"They're an incredible and innovative champion of mental health services for youth and adults," said Mike Zacek, the general manager at FlannelJax's.

This nonprofit works to provide critical resources like counseling and life skills training to individuals and families facing crisis.

Hope Gain Center also offers several programs to help reduce barriers to employment for people who live with mental health disabilities.

“We’re grateful for partners like FlannelJax’s who help us to help find permanent careers for those who live with mental illness,” said Sheri Munsell, founder of Hope Gain. “We’re thankful for the financial support through donations provided by FlannelJax’s that benefit our program to help individuals with mental illness overcome barriers to employment.”

Zacek said there's no coupon code or voucher for the donations each Sunday. All visitors have to do to help is book a Sunday reservation.
