Grand Rapids residents can track progress of crews cleaning up storm debris

The city of Grand Rapids provided a map to show where crews have already cleaned up.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The city of Grand Rapids is giving residents insight into how far crews have gotten in cleaning up storm debris with a map that shows where crews have already been and which crews are assigned to certain areas of the city.

Back-to-back ice storms and high winds caused significant damage in Grand Rapids and across West Michigan, which officials and residents are still working to recover from.

The map can be seen here

Grand Rapids is picking up storm debris from residents' homes. The map shows that mutual assistance crews are helping the city with clean-up efforts.

City officials said crews will revisit areas a second time after they've gone through the whole city once. Residents who live in areas already cleared by crews or residents who live in areas that haven't been cleared can call 311 Customer Service at 616-456-3000 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to let the city know if they have debris ready for pick up.

Residents should put their downed branches, limbs and brush in front of their homes close to the curb so crews can pick them up. The curbside pick-up is for Grand Rapids residents only.

People are also encouraged to transport tree debris if possible. They can drop it off at the city's yard waste site 2001 Butterworth St. SW any time between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.
