GRPD hosts accreditation community forum

This is the first time that the GRPD has sought CALEA accreditation, and it is considered the industry standard of law enforcement accreditation.

The Grand Rapids Police Department hosted a community forum for its Commission of the Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) accreditation process.

The forum was from 7-9 p.m. on Monday night, March 5.

Assessors from CALEA facilitated the event and completed the accreditation review, which GRPD voluntarily undergoes.

This is the first time that the GRPD has sought CALEA accreditation, and it is considered the industry standard of law enforcement accreditation. Only five percent of police agencies in the United States receive it.

For more information about the community input process and CALEA visit, call GRPD Officer Dan Adams at 616.456.3450. For more information about CALEA and the accreditation process, visit www.calea.org or email calea@calea.org.
