GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Don't lace up your skates just yet.

Rosa Parks Circle ice rink was set to open for public ice skating the day after Thanksgiving. However, with the Thanksgiving week's forecast set to be warmer than expected they've postponed the opening until Nov. 30, weather permitting.

The ice rink is planned to be open through Feb. 25, admission to skate is $2 for anyone 17 or younger and $4 for adults 18 and older. Admission includes the cost of skate rentals.

Those who go to skate can walk-up to skate or reserve skate times online. The city of Grand Rapids said that when you reserve a time online you can do so for up to six household members.

There is no added fee for making a reservation online. Skaters pay upon arrival. If skaters make a reservation they are asked to arrive within the first ten minutes of their start time for a better chance of their skate size being available.

If you'd like to make a reservation for the first two weeks of the season you can do so here. The city will add additional dates for reservations up to two weeks in advance starting Nov. 27.

The circle will host more than just skating through the winter season. There will be different events including the annual Christmas tree lighting on Dec. 1. The Parks and Recreation department shared that they also plan to host snowshoeing, fat tire biking and other winter recreation activities at Indian Trails Golf Course. Or if sledding is more your speed, there will be free sled rentals at city parks through its GR Outside division when weather permits.
