GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A pair of historic all-women baseball teams from West Michigan are being immortalized with a pair of bobbleheads.

The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum released the new limited-edition bobbleheads Friday morning.

They recognize the Grand Rapids Chicks and Kalamazoo Lassies in honor of the 80th anniversary of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL).

The Chicks won championships in 1947 and 1953, while the Lassies won the league's final championship in 1954. For reference, that's the same league featured in the classic film "A League of Their Own."

"We’re excited to release bobbleheads of the six teams to claim championships in the 12-year history of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, including the Grand Rapids Chicks and Kalamazoo Lassies,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “The women who played in the AAGPBL were role models that paved the way for women in professional sports and beyond, and we think these new bobbleheads are the perfect tribute.”

The series honoring AAGPBL teams also includes the Rockford Peaches, Racine Belles, South Bend Blue Sox and the Milwaukee Chicks.

These bobbleheads can be ordered through the Bobblehead Hall of Fame's online store at $40 each. For more information or to purchase yours, click here.
