GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan — Two dogs died in a house fire in Grand Rapids on Sunday afternoon, according to the Grand Rapids Fire Department.
The fire began in the 600 block of Spencer Street NE, according to a Facebook post by Grand Rapids Professional Firefighters Local 366.
GRFD said neighbors reported grey smoke coming from the house, and when they arrived there was a fire on the first floor.
The fire began in the kitchen and there was no one home when it started, according to firefighters.
The department said while damage to the home is confined to the kitchen, two dogs died in the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
