GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Grand Rapids nonprofit is asking the public for help making cookies to send to troops overseas this holiday season.
On Saturday, Dec. 7, Grand Rapids Cookies with a Cause is holding its sixth-annual Cookie Drive for Troops: The Big Cookie Drop.
This year, the group hopes to provide 1,500 soldiers overseas with a dozen cookies each.
"We are a volunteer group looking to share some holiday spirit with the men and women from our community who give selflessly and are currently on active military duty overseas," the nonprofit said. "If you like to bake, we’ve got a need."
The nonprofit is asking the Grand Rapids community and surrounding areas to bake cookies at home and drop them off at one of their partner locations on Saturday, Dec. 7.
All you need to do before dropping the cookies off is package them in disposable containers and label the container with what kind of cookie is inside.
Schools, churches, sports teams, or other participating groups are also encouraged to write holiday cards to include with the cookies.

- Sobie Meats, 3450 Remembrance Rd, Walker from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
