White-out snow conditions contribute to canceled flights at GRR

Most West Michigan school districts canceled class Friday, and all scheduled departures out of Gerald R. Ford Airport airport are canceled, too.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Numerous flights at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport Friday have been canceled as a major winter snowstorm settles in.

According to the airport's online flight tracker, more than 20 departures and arrivals were canceled Friday afternoon and evening, and some were delayed. A handful were still on time as of 4 p.m. Friday.

The near-white-out conditions likely contributed to these delays and cancelations.

You can track the status of outgoing and incoming flights at GRR here.

Emergency managers are urging folks in the line of the snowstorm to stay off the roads and at home if at all possible.

If you do need to venture out, remember to take it snow and have an emergency plan should you get stuck.
